You Asked, We Answered
HOW DOES THE AVIX AUTONOMIC WORK?
Birds perceive the system’s approaching laser beam as a physical danger - and see a permanent object - like a large moving stick, and disperse to seek safety. In contrast to conventional deterrence methods, birds will not become accustomed to the AVIX 16 programmable patterns. They will consider the area as unsafe and will not return.
AVIX products don’t detect the birds. They work preventively not reactively.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AVIX PRODUCTS COMPARED TO OTHER BIRD CONTROL METHODS?
In many situations existing methods (netting, shooting, sound) are not suitable, feasible, sustainable or effective on the long term.
AVIX technology offers a unique solution for bird control:
• Low costs per surface unit (not so with netting or shooting);
• Easy to deploy (Not so with netting);
• Permanent / autonomous solution (Autonomic)- (not so with shooting);
• Humane technique / positive perception (not so with shooting);
• Low environmental impact: no noise, no pollution, low visual presence (not so with shooting & sound);
• No habituation: birds do not get used to the laser beam (not so with sound);
• Steering of birds with the laser beam (not so with netting, shooting & sound).
WHICH BIRD SPECIES REACT TO THE LASER BEAM?
Most birds respond immediately to the laser beam. It has been proven that AVIX products effectively reduce nuisance caused by many birds including:
• Gulls
• Crows
• Pigeons
• Ducks
• Geese
• Starlings
• Swifts
• Herons
• Cockatoos
• Galahs
• Currawongs
• Wattlebirds
• Rosellas
• Cormorant
• Pelican
DO BIRDS GET ACCUSTOMED TO AVIX TECHNOLOGY?
Since the laser beam of AVIX is a dynamic ‘threat’ that is approaching from different angles at random moments, birds do not get used to it and show immediate response by flying away. After repeated experiences with AVIX Autonomic, birds tend to avoid the area where the laser is active.
IS THE AVIX ALSO EFFECTIVE DURING THE DAY?
AVIX laser technology is absolutely effective during daytime. Covering 21ha with line of sight. We recommend 9ha+ per unit for effective control.
WHAT IS THE RANGE OF DISPERSING BIRDS
The range of effective bird dispersal depends on multiple local factors.
Light conditions
AVIX Autonomic units have a high laser output power, recommended for use during bright light conditions.
Distance and beam angle
The laser beam has reach up to 350mt in bright light conditions is ideal for deterring birds. The unit should be mounted high, then project down on an angle looking over the area. Effective cover (recommended 9ha+) should be determined by bird species, bird pressure, environmental factors and history.
Local environmental conditions
Built in the Netherlands to withstand Nordic conditions, will not have any issues in the Australian sun.
IS THE AVIX SAFE TO USE?
Yes, AVIX Autonomic can be used safely as long as the operator complies fully with the provided safety instructions and follow local regulations. Safety is a top priority at Bird Beam. The AVIX is world class, top of the range laser deterrent technology, complying with the highest safety standards for laser equipment and we work closely with our clients with policy and procedures. A free laser safety course is mandatory for all our clients, using an online platform at AVIX Academy.
WHAT LASER CLASS IS THE AVIX?
The laser class depends on the amount of energy transported within the laser beam (laser power) and the wavelength (colour) of the laser beam. The unique combination of laser source and optics generate a laser beam that is classified as laser class 3B. The output power varies per product and lies between 5 and 499 mW (milliWatts).
WHY IS THE COLOUR OF THE LASER GREEN?
Birds perceive the green laser light best and therefore the bird dispersal is most effective. Red is not an effective colour.
CAN THIS BE USED DURING NESTING SEASON?
Bird Beam advises not to use lasers during the nesting season. It is illegal to remove a nesting bird without permits. The laser should be used as a preventive tool for keeping birds away. If birds are already nesting, dispersing them is very difficult with any method. We recommend installing our equipment at least 1 – 2 months before the nesting season to have the maximum effect. The area MUST be cleaned down so the birds dont recognise the area to be previously habitable.
OUR PROPERTY IS UNDER A FLIGHT PATH..
The AVIX is fully programmable and set only by waypoints, this governs the movements and the path in which the laser will travel, which prevents uncontrolled projection to aircraft or at areas with human activity. We never project towards the open sky. The laser is mounted high above the area, and projects down at the field or open space. AVIX technology is used at airports worldwide.
CAN YOU GIVE 100 % GUARANTEE ON THE EFFECT OF LASER TECHNOLOGY?
It is widely known there is no magic bullet when it comes to bird control, we cannot give a 100 % guarantee on the effect. In most situations, we have seen reduction in bird numbers between 70 % - 100 %, taking into account external environmental/seasonal factors which can influence the perceived outcome, also depending on the location and situation according to our research. We offer user stories and testimonials for a reference, is some cases we can also offer direct references from clients drawing from their own experience. Bird deterrents must be used as part of a pest management policy and not in isolation. So, you must apply more pressure back to the birds than you are receiving.
DO YOU ACCEPT RETURNS?
Customers have specific legal rights under the Australian Consumer Law in respect of goods and services purchased from Bird Beam. As a business we are meeting our obligations within the Australian Consumer Law. We therefore offer Conditional refunds and replacements.
Details of our return’s guidelines are outlined on our Important Information page
DO I NEED A PERMIT TO OPERATE
In ALL States of Australia you will be required to obtain a permit to operate a handheld laser. The use of handheld lasers are very strictly governed.
The AVIX Autonomic unit, does NOT require a permit to operate.
